What Is Adult ADHD Coaching?

Adult ADHD coaching is a form of support that helps people better understand how ADHD affects them personally and find practical ways to manage day-to-day life a bit more easily.

Many adults with ADHD struggle with overwhelm, procrastination, forgetfulness, emotional ups and downs, motivation, time management, or constantly feeling frustrated with themselves. A lot of people grow up feeling like they are lazy, disorganised, “too much”, or somehow failing at things that seem easier for everybody else.

Over time, that can really affect confidence and self-esteem.

ADHD coaching is not about turning somebody into a perfectly organised person overnight. The aim is more about understanding how your brain works and finding strategies that actually feel realistic for you and your life.

At Lukas Dressler Psychology, our ADHD coaching and CBT sessions are collaborative, supportive, and adapted to the individual rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.

Sessions might focus on things like:

·                overwhelm and task paralysis

·                procrastination and motivation

·                routines and structure

·                emotional regulation

·                rejection sensitivity

·                confidence and self-esteem

·                balancing productivity with rest

·                understanding behavioural and emotional patterns linked to ADHD

Everybody experiences ADHD differently. Some people benefit from practical systems and accountability, while others need more support around burnout, masking, emotional overwhelm, or the impact ADHD has had on relationships and self-worth over the years.

A big part of the work is helping people move away from constant self-blame. Many adults with ADHD have spent years being told they are careless, lazy, dramatic, or “not trying hard enough”, even when they have often been trying harder than most people realise.

The goal is not perfection. It is about helping life feel more manageable, reducing overwhelm, and building a better understanding of yourself and what works for you.

Support can be helpful both for adults who already have an ADHD diagnosis and for people who recognise ADHD traits in themselves and want support, structure, and practical guidance.
