ADHD Assessment

I provide private ADHD Assessments for adults, children and adolescents. For clients based in Brighton, I offer in-person assessments from my Hove practice, as well as online assessments for those based outside of Sussex.
I have undertaken rigorous diagnostic training both in the UK and Germany and carry out an extensive ADHD screening and assessment process which ensures accurate diagnosis. My approach is in line with best practice guidelines in multiple countries, including the UK National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) Guidelines. The ADHD screening includes a brief screening for autism as per good practice guidelines.

Stage One (Screening) at a glance
Cost
Stage One - Screening, £350
This includes all correspondence with the clinic at any point during working hours, any short phone calls or check-ins, a copy of the QbCheck results as well as immediate feedback of the outcome of the initial assessment.
Timings & availability
The screening takes approx. I hour
You will also need to complete the necessary intake paperwork prior to your screening appointment. I currently have availability to conduct assessments within 2-4 weeks of initial contact.
What comes next?
Stage Two - Assessment, £750
If the results of the initial assessment indicate that a diagnosis of ADHD is likely to be given, you will be invited to progress to Stage Two. Further information will be sent to your email, and you’ll be asked to book in for an additional session.
Stage One - ADHD Screening
In order to maximise efficiency and to minimise costs for clients the diagnostic process is split into two parts. The screening stage has been carefully curated to provide an accurate, initial indication of whether symptoms of ADHD are present before proceeding to full assessment.
Step 1 - Submit an enquiry
To commence the ADHD screening process, you will need to complete an ADHD Assessment Enquiry form.
Step 2 - Complete an intake form
Once you have submitted your enquiry, you will receive an email to the address provided, including a link to the ADHD Assessment Intake Form. This will allow you to provide detailed information about your experiences, your current circumstances, and any issues you may be experiencing.
As the ADHD screening includes a brief screening for autism as per good practice guidelines, you will also be asked to complete an Autism Spectrum Quotient (AQ-10) questionnaire.

Step 3 - Book your initial screening appointment
The email you receive will also provide you with a scheduling link to book your initial screening appointment. During this session, you will meet with myself to discuss your circumstances in more detail. If this appointment takes place in-person a QbCheck will be carried out. If you choose an online appointment we will go over the information you provided and I will carry out a clinical screening of ADHD symptoms.
Step 4 - Receive immediate feedback
At the end of the screening appointment you will receive immediate feedback.
If the results of the initial screening indicate a likelihood of ADHD, you will progress to Stage Two of the ADHD Assessment process. If all indicators suggest that there is no ADHD present, we will conclude the process at this stage and you will receive a detailed report outlining the results.
Cost
Stage Two (Assessment) costs £750
This includes analysis of all questionnaire data, conducting the assessment appointment, the cost of the full diagnostic report as well as all correspondence with the clinic at any point during working hours, any short phone calls or check-ins.

You will also need to complete the necessary additional paperwork prior to your assessment. Assessments usually take place within 2-4 weeks of initial screening, and must be undertaken within a maximum of 6 months from our initial meeting.
What comes next?
Diagnosis and report
Once diagnostics have been completed, you will receive a full ADHD Assessment Report. This will present the findings and outcome of the assessment, and will detail individualised recommendations. The diagnostic decision will be based upon current guidelines and criteria as well as my professional training and clinical experience.
Stage Two - ADHD Assessment
If the results of the initial assessment indicate that a diagnosis of ADHD is likely to be given, the remaining diagnostic process (in accordance with NICE guidelines) continues as follows.
Step 5 - Completing the diagnostic process
If the results of the initial assessment indicate that a diagnosis of ADHD is likely to be given, the remaining diagnostic process (in accordance with NICE guidelines) continues. This involves completing several questionnaires and attending a follow-up appointment lasting up to 2 hours. During the follow-up appointment, a developmental history and diagnostic interview will be conducted.
Step 6 - ADHD Assessment Report
Once diagnostics have been completed, you will receive a full ADHD Assessment Report. This will present the findings and outcome of the assessment, and will detail individualised recommendations. The diagnostic decision will be based upon current guidelines and criteria as well as my professional training and clinical experience. If required I will make specific recommendations for further exploration of your needs. At present you can expect to receive the completed report within 2 weeks after completion of the assessment appointment.

I currently have availability to conduct assessments, and am usually able to commence the first stage appointment within 2-6 weeks of enquiry. This allows time for you to complete the necessary intake paperwork prior to the initial appointment, as it’s important you provide as full and detailed a picture as possible.
Having made your enquiry, you will receive an email detailing next steps, including an appointment booking link. This allows you to view all available appointment times and schedule in a time and date that work best for you.

Please note, the cost of both stages needs to be settled prior to the appointment taking place, at the stage of booking.

Depending on your policy the cost of the assessment might be covered by your insurance. I am a registered provider with several insurance companies, including: Aviva, Bupa, Cigna, Vitality, and WPA.
Please get in touch if you have spoken to your provider and they require any additional information.

I offer both in-person appointments at my Hove practice, and online appointments via video call. You can choose whichever option works best for you, though in-person is recommended.

Cancellations made with more than 48 hours' notice will receive a full refund.
Cancellations made between 24 and 48 hours before the scheduled appointment will receive a 50% refund.
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice, or where an appointment is missed without notice, are liable for the full fee for that appointment and no refund will be issued.
Lukas Dressler and Alfie Leech reserve the right to cancel appointments on shorter notice, including up to 1 hour before the scheduled appointment, where circumstances require. In such cases, a full refund or the option to reschedule will be offered.

Following diagnosis, you may wish to seek medical treatment through the NHS. Whilst I am an accredited psychologist licensed to screen for and diagnosis ADHD in both adults and children, I am a private provider — I therefore advise all my clients to discuss their options with their GP before seeking private assessment.
ADHD medications are controlled drugs, and only medical specialists with appropriate training can prescribe them. You might have to continue to see a psychiatrist privately until the medication is stabilised before your GP can take over prescribing. Not all GPs are happy to continue prescribing, so it is advised to discuss this before.

You might have to continue to see a psychiatrist privately until the medication is stabilised before your GP can take over prescribing. Not all GPs are happy to continue prescribing, so it is advised to discuss this before.

We do not provide full autism diagnostic assessments.
However, Stage 1 of our ADHD assessment process includes a brief autism screening questionnaire. This helps identify whether autistic traits may be present and whether a full autism assessment might be appropriate.
If further assessment is indicated, Lukas Dressler Psychology works closely with Dr Andrew Parkinson (Sussex Autism Assessments). Where appropriate, we can support referrals and facilitate combined ADHD and ASC assessment pathways in collaboration with specialist clinicians.
