Potential. Progress. Pride.
Lukas Dressler (he/him) is an HCPC registered, highly-qualified counselling psychologist, integrative psychotherapist & recognised gender specialist based in Brighton & Hove. He is committed to fostering well-being for children, adolescents and adults in a compassionate space. The focus in sessions expands from overcoming acute challenges to enabling clients to discover their uniqueness, to embrace their authentic self and to thrive. Lukas specialises in working with ADHD, gender identity as well as depression and anxiety.
ADHD Screening & Assessment
I believe that everyone should have equal opportunities and receive appropriate support to enable them to thrive. A diagnosis of ADHD can help you advocate for and support yourself or your child. I have undertaken rigorous diagnostic training and employ an extensive ADHD screening and assessment process which ensures accurate diagnosis. My approach is in line with best practice guidelines in multiple countries, including the UK National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) Guidelines.
Nurturing lasting change
I believe that happiness comes from fostering an innate sense of self-worth. But sometimes we all need help in learning to accept our authentic self, especially during times of stress or change. I work with children, teenagers and adults — with a specialism in neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ young people — to help develop a lasting sense of resilience, self-acceptance and positivity.
About me
“Since 2011, it has been my passion and privilege to support people to navigate difficult moments in life and to empower them to achieve their full potential. I believe genuine and lasting well-being comes from providing a supportive, therapeutic environment that caters to the unique needs of the individual, and I pride myself on providing a compassionate space in which my clients feel safe and comfortable to express their authentic selves.
“Utilising flexible, integrated working methods, centred around the principles of cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), I work collaboratively with my clients to find creative and effective solutions for their unique journeys.”
My services…
Therapy
-
I specialise in working with 6-25 year olds in the neurodivergent and/or LGBTQ+ communities, and have significant experience working with children, young people and adults with diagnoses of ADHD, autism, or struggling with symptoms of anxiety, depression, gender dysphoria and more.
As an integrative therapist I am able to draw on a number of different models to flexibly adapt my approach.
-
Fees are set at £110 per 50 minute session.
If you have private healthcare insurance, you may be able to claim the cost against your policy. Please check with your provider.
Concessionary fees may be available upon request, depending on availability.
-
I endeavour to accommodate new and prospective clients within the shortest timeframe possible. However, during busy periods, I operate a waiting list system.
It is difficult to predict exact waiting times, as my availability is dependent on existing clients’ commitments and onboarding of waiting list clients. However, I usually expect to be able to take on new clients within 4-12 weeks of enquiry.
If I’m not able to offer an immediate slot, I will do my best to provide an accurate estimate as to my availability at the time of your enquiry, and recommend alternatives should you need more immediate support.
ADHD Assessments - Children & Adults
-
In order to maximise efficiency and to minimise costs for clients the diagnostic process is split into two parts: an initial screening; followed by a full assessment if the screening results indicate that a diagnosis of ADHD is likely to be given. You can find out more about the assessment process here:
-
In order to minimise costs for clients, the diagnostic process is split into two parts.
Stage One (Screening) costs £400. This includes all correspondence with the clinic at any point during working hours, any short phone calls or check-ins, a copy of the QbCheck results as well as immediate feedback of the outcome of the initial screening.
Stage Two (Assessment) costs £800. This includes analysis of all questionnaire data, conducting a further diagnostic appointment, the cost of the full diagnostic report as well as all correspondence with the clinic at any point during working hours, any short phone calls or check-ins.
-
I currently have availability to conduct assessments, and am usually able to commence the first stage appointment within 2-6 weeks of enquiry. This allows time for you to complete the necessary intake paperwork prior to the initial appointment, as it’s important you provide as full and detailed a picture as possible.
Having made your enquiry, you will receive an email detailing next steps, including an appointment booking link. This allows you to view all available appointment times and schedule in a time and date that work best for you.

Potential. Progress. Pride.
Why I am proud to help neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ young people to recognise their potential and progress towards celebrating their authentic self.
Neurodiversity
Neurodivergence is part of human diversity. Just like we have a multitude of different flowers in nature, we have a myriad of different brains among humans. Each one is unique and beautiful in its own way and deserves care and respect.
With over 2,000 hours supporting children and young people who are exploring their neurodivergence (either diagnosed or undiagnosed), I have a great deal of experience tailoring my approach to best suit the needs of the individual and their own unique expression of neurodivergence. Whilst it can be challenging to understand, contextualise and accept the realities of living with a neurodivergent brain in a society that remains geared towards neurotypical ways of thinking and behaving, it is my great privilege and passion to work with people to help them better understand themselves and their potential in order that they can not only achieve greater self-acceptance and self-worth, but to allow them to thrive.
I work with children and young people who may need help understanding their ADHD or Autism (ASD), particularly when they may be struggling with depression and anxiety caused in part by the challenges their neurodivergence presents in a neurotypical system. I work hard to tailor my approach and offering expert, compassionate support for whatever issues they may be facing.
LGBTQ+
Sadly, I know first hand that young LGBTQ+ still face a complex set of struggles navigating a world that still sees them as different or atypical at best, and broken or wrong at worst. The social isolation, rejection, homophobia, transphobia and discrimination that our society can incubate has a profound impact on the way a young persons’ sense of self develops.
As a member of the LGBTQ+ community myself, I understand how this psychological process manifests over time. I have undergone my own journey towards self-acceptance and my experiences lit a passion in me to develop my practice as a psychologist to help young LGBTQ+ people. Through my own journey I am proud of who I am and what I have achieved. I want the same for every child or young person I work with.
